This Is Our Story

In 2009, while in prayer, Rosa Nuon, Shepherd’s Gateway's President, felt a burden for youth and the elderly; awakening a desire in her to someday build a Christian non-profit organization that would help these two vulnerable populations.

Later, the Lord connected Rosa with Sheri Casali and Laura Guzman, who led a group for single mothers at their church. Together, these three women initiated Shepherd’s Heart, an outreach group which ministered to people in need. After a few years of diligently praying for the Lord’s vision, in 2021, Rosa, Sheri, and Laura became the founders of Shepherd’s Gateway, which now reaches out to youth, children, women, and families who have experienced trauma.

Shepherd Gateway partners with many organizations such as DCYF, Bethany Christian Services, Junie Johnson House, RI Right to Life, Sojourner House, Immigration Advocacy Project: THEIA (Trafficking, Housing, Employment, and Immigration Advocacy Project), Project Weber Renew, and St. Mary’s Home for Children. Shepherd’s Gateway also helps with situations that involve human trafficking, battered women, youth and children in group homes, and men, women, and children in need of basic necessities such as toiletries, food, clothing, toys, and diapers. They have also organized “Spa Day” for trafficked and battered women.

In 2022, Shepherd’s Gateway obtained a 501(c)3 as a non-profit organization.
